GOALS:

Student teams will work on a special research or design project in this course. The topic of the project is determined together with the faculty and student teams. Teamwork is strongly encouraged and required. projects are offered by the department faculty and students express their intent to work on a narrower area in mechatronics engineering. Extensive laboratory work, analytical modeling, and design experiences is expected.

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of the course is to give the students a comprehensive practice on engineering research and experience an engineering research and design process starting from the conceptual recognition up to the reporting and publication.

PRE REQUSITES: Consent of the Department; 4^th year status

DETAIL OF SYLLABUS:

1-30 week :

1. Case Studies and Students’ presentations

2. Design Projects: Term projects for individual and team study will be given.

3. Laboratory work required: Extensive laboratory work is required.

The course contributes development of research talent of the students.

Relationship with other undergraduate and graduate courses:

The concepts and experience gained in this course are used in most of the other courses.

Assessment of course  and Grading system:

Course goals are to be assessed by the student’s overall performance in the department’s other design courses. Grading is based on the methodology, presentation and performance of the teams, and contribution of individual students.
